THE THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT                             14 December 2003

Eucharistic Prayer A may be used at Holy Communion Services today

We welcome all who worship here today.   If you are a newcomer please speak to one of the welcomers or to one of the clergy.   We invite you to complete a card which you will find in your pew, or on the table near the door of the church, and hand it to one of the welcomers.   Communicant members of all Churches are welcome to receive Holy Communion.   If you are not receiving Communion please come to the altar rail for a blessing and carry a book so the minister knows.

Collect:  God for whom we watch and wait, you sent John the Baptist to prepare the way of your Son:  give us courage to speak the truth, to hunger for justice, and to suffer for the cause of right, with Jesus Christ our Lord   AMEN

Readings:  Zephaniah 3:14-20      Philippians 4:4-7      Luke 3:7-18

Post Communion:  We give you thanks, O Lord, for these heavenly gifts;  kindle in us the fire of your Spirit that when our Christ comes again we may shine as lights before his face;  who is alive and reigns now and for ever.   AMEN

We pray this week

for Christopher our Bishop and for Christopher and Richard his suffragans

for Sister Diana of the Sisters of the Love of God, for Geoffrey Tristram of the Society of St John the Evangelist and all those who are living in a Religious Community

for the work of the Church Army

for the lonely, the anxious, the bereaved;  and amongst the sick for Judith Hill, Jenny Luckhurst, Michael Taylor, Joan Calnan, Pat Large, Jeffrey Davies, David Jackson, Pamela Christmas

for those who have died recently:

and at their anniversaries pray for:  William Booker, Alison Cuningham, Peter Payne, Sydney Conway, Basil Cole

We give thanks for our communion with all the Saints, especially the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Peter our patron.

At All Saints’ the weekly prayers are for everyone who lives in (Middle of) Cross Oak Road (Charles St to Greenway/Anglefield).

PLEASE TAKE THIS PEW LEAFLET AWAY WITH YOU  as a reminder of dates, subjects for prayer etc.   Fr Mark’s sermons at St Peter’s are normally available from the church table.   Do take copies for anyone not here today.
