THE FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT         30 November 2003

Eucharistic Prayer A may be used at Holy Communion Services today

We welcome all who worship here today.   If you are a newcomer please speak to one of the welcomers or to one of the clergy.   We invite you to complete a card which you will find in your pew, or on the table near the door of the church, and hand it to one of the welcomers.   Communicant members of all Churches are welcome to receive Holy Communion.   If you are not receiving Communion please come to the altar rail for a blessing and carry a book so the minister knows.

Collect :  Almighty God, as your kingdom dawns,  turn us from the darkness of sin to the light of holiness, that we may be ready to meet you in our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.   AMEN

Readings:  Jeremiah 33:14-16     1 Thessalonians 3:9-13     Luke 21:25-36

Post Communion:  O Lord our God, make us watchful and keep us faithful as we await the coming of your Son our Lord;   that, when he shall appear, he may not find us sleeping in sin but active in his service and joyful in his praise;  through  Jesus Christ our Lord.   AMEN

We pray this week

within the Anglican Communion for The Anglican Church of Kenya

for Christopher our Bishop and for Christopher and Richard his suffragans

for the lonely, the anxious, the bereaved;  and amongst the sick for Judith Hill, Jenny Luckhurst, Michael Taylor, Pat Large, Jeffrey Davies, David Jackson, Pamela Christmas

for those who have died recently:  Margaret Gardner, Gordon Williams

and at their anniversaries pray for: Edith Morgan

We give thanks for our communion with all the Saints, especially the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Peter our patron.

At All Saints’ the weekly prayers are for everyone who lives in Montague Road + Rosehill

PLEASE TAKE THIS PEW LEAFLET AWAY WITH YOU  as a reminder of dates, subjects for prayer etc.   Fr Mark’s sermons at St Peter’s are normally available from the church table.   Do take copies for anyone not here today.
